PALISADE | Palissade

This artwork commemorates Coevorden’s medieval history as a motte-and-bailey castle.

From the 12-metre-high hill, you have an unobstructed view of the landscape and can always see the sun rise or set on the horizon.
On 7 May and 6 August, the sun rises in line with the “Axis of Ossehaar”, and on 3 February and 8 November, the sun sets in line with this axis.

Four “Days of Ossehaar” divide the year into four new quarters. Four dates that could be occasions for events in this new extension of Coevorden.
But it is also a place where you can retreat to quiet moments, enjoying the view and a sunset…,

slowing down time.
