ANDERZIJDSA67

There are certain stretches of motorway that you look forward to in advance, perhaps even taking a detour to experience them…
We want to create such a stretch with AnderzijdsA67: “one and a half minutes of beauty and wonder along the A67” (=2.5 km at 100 km/h).

Unlike regular noise barriers, the design of AnderzijdsA67 comprises a wide section in which the verge, sound artwork and landscape form an integral whole.

The mirror wall, which acts as a noise barrier with a richly planted verge, offers motorists on the A67 a spectacular landscape experience as they pass by, while also reducing noise by 15 dB.

The sound artwork consists of a modular construction made of sustainable materials. The roof structure supports 3 hectares of solar panels that generate around 4.5 MW of sustainable energy. An infiltration system makes it possible to collect around 18,000 m3 of rainwater per year, thereby preventing the heathland and agricultural fields from drying out. Ecological quality is achieved by integrating nesting and foraging opportunities in and around the artwork and by enhancing biodiversity in the surrounding landscape (heath, fen, field and forest).
