COMPASS | Kompas
Following the redevelopment of the N50/Hanzelijn junction, a number of residual spaces have been enclosed within the traffic network as inaccessible and abandoned fragments. Kompass brings these fragments together by introducing water as a unifying element.
In the days of the Hanseatic League, sailors navigated using compasses and ingenious nautical charts with wind roses and orientation lines.
Three different traffic movements converge at this new entrance to Kampen. Kompass introduces a wind rose as a work of art for train passengers, motorists and recreational users.
Orientation lines connect the three wind roses and are each individually recognisable by a variety of vegetation: cattail, water lily and yellow iris. Both in space and in time (summer and winter images), an intriguing and fascinating interplay of lines is created.
